The Cayenne pepper (Capsicum annuum) is a part of the Capsicum family of vegetables, generally known as chili peppers. Cayenne is native to the Cayenne region of French Guyana on the northeast coast of South America. Cayenne Peppers have been grown for thousands of years. Alongside its popular use as a culinary spice, Cayenne has also been celebrated throughout history for its medicinal properties.
Cayenne pepper is a seasoning pepper. Add 1-3 tsp to any dish.
• To retain properties add into cooking after turning off the heat.
• Can also be sprinkled on raw dishes like salads.
• Add 1-2 tsp of cayenne to 1 cup of warm water and squeeze half a
lemon or lime. This drink acts as a tasty aid to the digestive system.
