Lentils (Lens culinaris) originate in North Africa and Western/Central Asia. Archaeologists have found lentils in prehistoric sites and can date there use as far back as 10,000 years! Lentils are considered one of

the oldest pulse crops to be cultivated by humanity. Lentils are a part of the Neolithic innovations in plant cultivation which facilitated the shift from hunter-gathering to early farming. Highly cherished throughout

history and in modern day as a nutritious addition to many cuisines around the world.

Green Lentils

  • Lentils can be cooked or sprouted and used in raw dishes.

    To sprout just soak for 1-2 days until the sprouts show. Visit website for details.


    Cooking instructions:


    1. Rinse before use. Use a ratio of 1 cup (200g) of Lentils to 2 cups (500 ml) of water.

    2. Add Lentils and water to a pot.

    3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover then leave to simmer for 15-20 mins.

    4. With the heat switched off add sea salt, cayenne pepper and herbs to flavour.
